R60/2 Spark Plugs

Yeah, I do think she is prone to flooding. Your hot start drill is interesting. I need to remember it. Right now, mine will re-start when hot by just kicking with ignition. No pre-kicking, no throttle. When I'm satisfied with the drill over a longer period of time, I may have it tatooed to my palm....

R60/2 Spark Plugs

Dean - - Thanks. I knew what the "P" stood for and was a little concerned that the projected insulator might somehow cause some harm by being hotter, if only marginally. Rick Jones recommended the plug so I wasn't too worried. More info never hurts, though. Concerning the starting procedur...

Earles fork headlight bracket

Yes, Matt is the first name that came to mind but Allan beat me to it. Matt's a good guy - - his shop is only about 30 miles from my house. He has a couple of pics of his latest haul of parts on the Atlanta Craigslist under Motorcycles - - BMW. Give him a call or e-mail Matt@Boxerworks.com.

Advice needed removing R69S Terminal Board

My R27 came with all of the original terminal board and external switch parts in a yogurt container. After doing an inventory and figuring out the sequence for re-assembly, I used a pistol-type clamp to hold it all in place while I bent the tabs. This is the type of clamp that slowly tightens as you...

Tire Pressures

Allan - - Yes, I'm aware of the pressures recommended in the Owner Manuals but those seem low to me. Many people (like Kurt) run substantially higher pressures. That's the difference I'm trying to reconcile.

$39,000 for a refurbished R69?

Well, in light of all of the above, perhaps he would settle for, say, $35,000.... ??

Spark Plug Caps

Thanks for the feedback, Kurt and Allan. I had looked at Duane's site but didn't see any discussion on this. I looked a little harder and found the following: "The metal covers are a disaster in any humidity." "...the metal covered caps were collectors of humidity and often shorted ou...

"Safety Standards" decal

Hey, Jeff - - Yes, that's the one. Can I get one if/when they become available? Do you think Tim Stafford has a source?

Slinger cleaning on a low mileage machine

Thanks, Kurt. That's kinda where I am in my thinking right now. The bike has actually been ridden only some 1,700 miles since 1982 and I'll certainly be riding it more than that. But I didn't buy her to be any kind of long-distance tourer or anything like that. I'll probably just enjoy her and then ...
