Re: Kickstarter swop: easy job?

Should be.
Only thing I would think of taking a 2nd look at is the lock screw or pin (the one that fits into the machined slot of the shaft and holds this lever onto it). Is it in good shape? And so its nut and washer?

Handlebar risers or clamps

Anyone have an idea where to buy such non-original clamps?
BMW parts suppliers demand prices I can not afford.
I'm now looking for those of the Chinese or Russian clones, but so far I have only seen them for 25mm handlebars, while for me it is 22mm.

Self made cables?

Is there an online store where I can order costume made cables or that sells the parts separately?
As I understood here – viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16349
I will need to fabricate my own front brake cable and carburetor cables.
Thanks.

Re: I don't think that my throttle assembly is the correct one

Thanks Tommy.

Well that’s an interesting problem I’m facing here.
I need a new front brake cable but in this case I’m not sure at all that the correct part number will fit her.

I don't think that my throttle assembly is the correct one

I bought my R51/3 with it but have the feeling that its not the original one for this model. I'm ok with it and will keep it of course but would like to know what model it came from. I know it is made by Magura. There's also a closeup in the last picture with a destroyed thread, will be happy to kno...

Re: Felt Seals

I just used modern rubber made.
But on my BSA M20 I recall that the workshop manual states to oil them with heavy grade oil.

Critical parts mounted without washers

I noticed that the cylinder base nuts don’t use washers, not plain ones nor spring washers, so do the rocker arms that are mounted with the long bolts as is, without any securing. Probably other parts on the bike as well. I would be happy to hear why? And if a thread – locking adhesives is recommend...

A way to assure correct functioning of the oil system?

I wondered last night, if I can assure that everything is ok with the oil pressure, if I will run the R51/3 engine a few seconds without its head covers? Should I see any oil stream from the engine to the head/rockers or so? Maybe through the push rods? Is it visual to the naked eye? At the end of t...
