Matching rear tire size with final drive ratio

Hello Gang, I picked up a 1957 R60 last weekend. It needs new tires. I’m going with the 3.50x18 for the front, but would like to install a 4.00x18 for the rear like how my 1969 R60US is set up. Is that possible with this bike, or is it not recommended because this has the Earles forks and my US has ...

Knobby tires for R50..

Hey Gang,
Might be looking for some knobby tires for a R50.
The bike already has an off road look to it.. military look so to speak.
It there a knobby tire that’s not too aggressive?
I’ll be riding this on mostly paved roads, but kinda want that off road look.

Thanks!

Re: running rich

When was the last time you did a carb sync? I take it all if your carb settings are correct? Have you cleaned the plugs and swapped sides?

Oh man!.. Sorry to hear about this.. but I like your idea of a quicker shut off and the correct fire extinguisher near by.

Re: R75/5 Crankcase breather advice..

Haha.. I hear you. I think since I went through the trouble of removing the tank, I might as well change it while it's all open. I'm not seeing the bike burn/use a lot of oil. There is small amounts of oil flowing into the right carb, but that is to be expected since it is coming from the breather. ...

Re: R75/5 Crankcase breather advice..

Thanks Kurt, Yeah, like you say, might as well change it out while it's all exposed. I've only owned the bike for a few months.. not sure on the engine history. The odometer reads 64,000, but it is reading high along with the speedo due to the ratio not being correct. My compression is at around 135...

R75/5 Crankcase breather advice..

Hey Gang, I've noticed that my bike ends up having the turkey gobbler sound after riding around and it's all warmed up. Definitely noticeable when at a stop light.. kinda embarrassing to be honest, hahaha . So I decided to take the tank off and do some exploring. To my surprise, the bike already had...

Reported the issue to MaxBMW.. they said they haven't been getting any complaints.
No worries.. got a spare coming.
