Re: Carburetor rebuild needed

I would contact David Woodburn if you don't want to do it yourself. I can't find his contact info, but Vech can tell you.

Re: twist grip not right

Well, if nothing is binding and everything is assembled correctly (a lot of ifs) then maybe the throttle assembly is worn out. Have you removed the twist grip and cam for inspection? Good pictures of what they should look like can be seen here: https://vintagebeemerparts.com/ and in Duane's article....

Re: 1974 R60/6 oil filter

The /5 and/6 used the same filter. When the /5 was introduced the filter came with two separate O rings, one to slip onto the pipe behind and in front of the filter. When you changed the filter you had to fish out the old O ring behind the filter which was a pain. BMW soon changed to a filter that i...

Re: Where to get gas tank lining redone

I've always had mine done at a local radiator shop. As well as re-lining the tank they can also check for leaks by sealing, pressurizing and submerging in their water tank. Go talk to a few and go with one you're comfortable with.

Re: 1965 R50/2 TURN SIGNALS

Its not there from the factory unless the bike used to be equipped with directionals and someone removed them and left some hardware behind. Unlikely but possible. You can see good clear pictures by part number of all the parts in Vech's article here https://vintagebeemerparts.com.

Vech's site is still up! http://benchmarkworks.com/ Go to tech advice on the sidebar and then to tech articles. How to install bar-end signals will tell you what you need to know.

Re: Timing advance

Final resolution: Since my worn out auto-advance was a reproduction, I wasn't real interested in trying to repair it. I ordered a new one from Mike Benoit https://vintagebeemerparts.com/new-bmw-2-centrifical-advance-unit-1955-1969-r69s-r60-2-r50-2-from-germany-12-12-8-004-113/. With it installed and...

Re: Timing advance

I should proof read before I submit. When I went thru the procedure at these mark, it was without the weights wedged out. Probably obvious.

Re: Timing advance

Thanks, James, for that great video. It helped a lot. Here's where I'm at today. I set the engine at the F mark, wedged the advance weights to the full advance position, and connected my milti-meter, set to continuity, to the points. I then turned the points adjuster (timing on the Pentacom setup) u...
