Re: 1963 Transmission on a 1968 R60/2?

Other than sidecar geared units, slash 2 transmissions are all the same from 1955 through 1969.
Good luck.

speedie sleeve

Pulled a R60/2 motor apart and found the rear main bearing is spun and loose. Have any here used the speedie sleeve as a fix with good results?
Thanks. Frank.

Re: 1965 R60/2 Overhaul

I'd stick the trans in change the gear oil and ride it. Just before you actually shift put slight pressure on the foot lever before pulling the clutch, it'll make for a smoother transition. You have long snowy winters out there. That's the time to do the trans.
Good luck.

Re: R26 Won't Start after Carb Rebuild

If the only thing you did was rebuild the carb. Make sure all is in the right places and jets are clear. If you're getting fuel to the plug and good spark, I'd make sure your slide isn't jammed in the open position. A fellow brought me a single that wouldn't start and that was the issue, the slide w...

crank removal

This may have been covered once or twice but, I have to bring it up again. When disassembling a motor heat is your friend. I've almost finished with wrenching for others. Had a fellow show up at my door with an incomplete motor asking me to fix it. He was trying to remove the crank and it got stuck ...

Re: Tyres: Too old?

Tubes, yes, spoked wheels don't work well without them. I try to find 3.25-3.50 -18 tubes. Easier to get them in the tires. I also wrap the spoke well with electrical tape then install the rim strip. Gives a few more seconds to get off the road if you get a puncture.

Re: Tyres: Too old?

I have them on two of my machines. Work fine. FYI, I was riding on a set of old tires, 15 + years old, in NH last year. Entered a sharp sweeper and my rear slid out almost went down, went into it again and slipped out again. When I changed tires the old ones were so hard they broke apart. I was luck...
