Update

I understand the issues forums have with posters criticising suppliers/contractors but in this case I can tell you what I have found. I was told the bores had had new liners - the liner in the side I have taken the head off is scored and I haven't even run the bike for more that 3 - 4 minutes on idl...

R12 update

Hi all, The tale of two R12's (twice the frustration, twice the costs). I sent my grey R12 mag to Germany for a rebuild so that's off the road. The tan R12 has it's engine back in back from John Law at BEMW here in the UK. Well the good news is it starts, runs for about 20 secs then splutters and fa...

Its an R51

It needs a total restoration but the guy that owns it want quite a bit of money for it but I'm sure its worth it. I'm checking the serial number in the ranges now. I had the mag/dyn rebuilt last year here in the UK and I believe the magnets were re-magnetised, but I'm still not getting a good enough...

Poor spark - R12

Hello all,

I had my DB2 reconditioned last year here in the UK but I'm still getting a poor spark at start up. Does anyone sell new magnets and would that help?

Regards

John

Also look what I found.

Update. Bad news I'm afraid.

Update.

Bad news I'm afraid. Spoke with John Lawes yesterday who confirmed that the pistons and rods are not BMW original. Bore is at its maximum size and looks like I'll need new pistons, rods and re lined bores.

John is sourcing the new parts now. Any recomendations?

Regards

John
