Actually there were four types. The very early '55s had the two-lens Eber.

Re: Rear swing arm question..

With all due respect, if the bike has been sitting for 30 years, I'd be removing the swingarm and checking the bearings carefully. Some survive quite well, some are toast. You won't know that unless you take it all apart.

Re: What to do? 1968 R60/2

25/8 is the standard gearing. 27/7 would be the preferred final drive for an R60 with sidecar, I believe. Nice to have the matching speedo too. Turns out very few standard Earles bikes that had sidecars attached ever were converted to the correct sidecar gearing, let alone had matching speedos. The ...

Re: What to do? 1968 R60/2

Some details that would be helpful - What is the final drive ratio and speedo ratio? If they are a matching sidecar set, that's excellent. Or maybe an non-'S' transmission? True sidecar bikes set up properly are very hard to find.

Re: Warning to engine rebuilders/overhauls-Important Info about Valve Guides

I think a lot of valve guides are replaced when they do not need to be.

Re: Transmission breather bolt on R60?

The very early ones (maybe into ‘57) were un-vented bolts. Some pushed oil out and some didn’t.

Re: R60 weight loss

In answer to this and your other post about changing heads, to be sure, it's your bike and you should do what you wish. BUT - the pre-/2 R60 bikes are quite rare, almost as rare as the R69. There are tons of /2, '60s bikes to customize. Money well spent to put this one back to original.

Re: Bing carb issue

As I said, there is no problem is it's just the left side. The bowls vent through the mixture screw hole - it's the way they were designed. If the float level is normal and you lean the bike over to either side, the fuel will weep out the vent hole. Quite poor design, but like many other things with...
