parts wanted

I'm working on a project and have a need for a couple of Airhead clutch springs.

If anyone has a couple, I would be interested. Condition not important.

thanks,

he installed 3 piece oil

he installed 3 piece oil rings. This configuration uses and internal spring and two scraper rings to push the rings tighter against the cylinder. he had the local dealer do it and they screwed up. When we disassembled, the spring had a red and green mark painted on each open end. The dealer must hav...

can you tell us which rings

can you tell us which rings were used on the rebuild? Especially the oil rings? Were they stock or aftermarket 3 piece oil control rings? If they were 3 piece, I'll share a horror story that happened on my brother's R80/7, where it never stopped smoking, using a quart of oil in 150 miles. Yes, 150 m...

you have to remove the entire speedo/tach housing. disconnect both tach and speedo cables loosen (do not remove) 3 speedo/tach mounting screws (10mm usually) as you start to lift up on housing, remove the electrical plug on the back. Clamps

Every Airhead I've worked on had two clamps at the air box and one at the carb - except the R90S which has to be the other way around. Mike Exactly Mike, Because of the Dellorto's on the R90s, there are two rubber grommets. So there's room for 2 clamps at the carb and 1 clamp at the air box. Most Bi...

Waze

I use the Waze app on my SmartPhone with a Ram mount. Works on both my R90s and R1150RT.

But most often, I still like the old standard map on my tankbag, both bikes.

routing

you have the right idea. I believe it routes alongside the voltage regulator close to the frame tube. The idea is to get a straight as possible shot to the M/C for the easiest, (non-binding) action.

clock repair

good info. I've worked on a number of these over the years. The stock R90s clocks use a magnet loaded flywheel that oscillates between a set of field coils. Beside the adjustment for fast/slow, if you have the clock apart, pay close attention to the gap between the magnets on the flywheel and the sm...

I'm fortunate to have one of

I'm fortunate to have one of these for my R90s as well as a kathy's Products (Bob's BMW) lock sock.

The lock sock holds the tube in a zippered bag and the whole mess stores in the frame tube. In addition, I keep a few other extra items in the lock sock.
