Re: Tank Help

Look at the underside of the new tank. If it has a cavity in it to clear an under tank master cylinder then its a slash 6. Paint

Anyone know where I can buy a touch up stick in Granada Red code 023? On line all I can find are "kits" that contain the paint, cleaner, wax and other stuff I don't need.

Re: 1974 BMW R60 New Battery

I'm sure it would work just fine but its a little pricey, don't you think? In my R75 (small battery box) I use a sealed AGM 12v 18ah battery that cost about $65 at Batteries Unlimited and it works just fine. Its the same battery that I used to use in my K1100 and it was fine there, too.

Right, should have been more clear. Only reline if the tank is otherwise sound.

Re: 1974 BMW R60 FUEL COCK PAINT DAMAGE

A radiator shop can check for leaks. They seal and and pressurize and submerge in their water tank and look for bubbles or pressure drop. They can reline it, too if you don't want to do it yourself. If the rust isn't bad a good painter can touch it up. If it is rusted through, buy a used tank and ha...

Re: R75/6 rear brake adjustment/maintenance

If everything is adjusted properly, all internal mechanics are lubed, the drum is true, and the shoes make full contact all there is left is the linings.

Re: R75/6 rear brake adjustment/maintenance

Well, right, most braking is on the front. Still the rear should work properly; all of mine always did.

Re: R75/6 rear brake adjustment/maintenance

Should be able to lock the rear wheel at any speed but progressive enough not to do it by mistake.

Re: Front shock absorber bent

Happened to me years ago, st speed, on one of the rear shocks of my R90/6. The threaded rod pulled out of the upper shock mount. All ended well, but holly crap! Use locktite.

Re: Matching rear tire size with final drive ratio

We've had this conversation before. Duane's article on neutral steering and tire size explains things well. https://w6rec.com/bmw-motorcycle-neutral-steering/
