yes you must change / replaced ignition coil with NEW and will be ok
the old have a lot of problems with different symptoms
inside wire is corrosion and then is bad ignition

just buy new ignition coil and be ok
i have a lot of old BMW , but never repair magneto

ignition coil have a lot of problems

people change everything..magneto , sparkplug, pistons , ventils , but not resolve bad ignition

holders set - inside the rear fender we have only some prototyps is not good , too small space for uninstall bags
better is inox holders for outside fixing , you can repaint to Black
