Re: Size resistor for R27 LED charging light?

Almost there. I now have everything working including the charging...if that it charges so much it blew the bulb out after the bulb got REAL bright.and I know why. The brown/black wire for the DF terminal needs a new home. With the D+ missing now, they wired the positive brush to the DF terminal...w...

Re: Size resistor for R27 LED charging light?

I started to do the test and actually looked at the stator..and finally realized something was off. Sometime in the past, the D+ terminal had been cut off. I got the stator off the other R27 restoration and that one has five terminals, Other view missing D+.jpg Missing D+.jpg while this one with the...

Re: Size resistor for R27 LED charging light?

Thanks Tommy, I should learn not to post at 2 a.m. It's amazing what I order and forget about until UPS drops off lots of boxes... The same goes for posts. I just got back to the R27 late yesterday Everything on the bike works EXCEPT the strange alternator light. With the ignition on, the LED chargi...

Re: Easy Clutch

After trying one of Ernie's clutch pulleys on a /6. I was amazed. I had an Easy Clutch installed for years on my R60/2..worked like a charm until one ride on a beautiful curvy river road...and the ferrule came loose. Fell off the cable and wandered off into the weeds. So no clutch. I had a small loc...

Re: Timing advance

I've installed a few of them on my bikes and customers..The unit looks the same as you posted. What's the problem?

You can set the timing spot on with a timing light and long fallen... It takes a couple of minutes with the front cover over and the engine idling.

Re: Size resistor for R27 LED charging light?

Forgot to mention that the stock 6V bulb doesn't light up when the ignition is on..fully charged battery..6.7V
Insert the LED and it does light up..go figure.

Checked the power in and ground..both perfect. Tried 3 different new 6V bulbs. None light..the LED does.

Size resistor for R27 LED charging light?

I add resistors to the post '70 airheads all the time when change to LED and customer doesn't want to install a Katdash. I'm trying to do the same with a '66 R27. Ohms Law was 50 years ago for me so need some help. Stock 6V system, probably .03 watts LED. I tried a 1 watt, 130 ohm and then a .5 watt...

First year R68 fork covering

Have an R68 in for restoration. We're having a discussion of how to restore the front forks. First, it originally had sidecar springs installed, so it was stiff. Installed stock, and all is well. The bike also has thin top fork coverings. The owner wants to install gaiters. Does anyone have an opini...

Re: 100 Year Celebration!!!

BMW has already picked up the R54Rennsport, the R51SS, and the Kneeler. They're getting them pretty for the camera and the anniversary book. Plan on stopping at the event around June on the way to the MOA National. The bikes will be on display at the 100th anniversary exhibit at the museum in Greer,...
