There are several frame shops here in California (and elsewhere I am sure) that could easily cut, splice and return your frame to good condition for much less than a replacement frame... Another thought.... if you are building a conversion... buy a /6 bike and put your Earls Fork on it... most folks will think it is a /2... you can use your /2 light with the speedometer built into it, and it will be much easier...then sell the good parts that came with your original /2 and hopefully...

Something that is neat and different on police bikes is that they have a small tube that runs thru the fuel tank to the box on top of the tank...for the electrical wires of the radio.... neat... I have a police tank on my bike so I can run the electrical wires to my heated vest... I made a small car...

I have an Opel Diesel in my Model A roadster and it has metric hoses like our bikes.... I tried some of that covered line that we use on our bikes and it only lasted several months... so I ended up having to buy diesel braid from Europe and it seems to work well.... I think those new computer tachs are switchable for 2,4,6 or 8 cylinder engines.... and all you would need to do for a waste spark ignition system is tell the tach it is running on a 4 cylinder engine...so it would half the indicated rpm...

Wow... and those are BMW roundel stamp markings before and after the number ?? must have been done by a shop, sure looks too good to be hand done...

That arm is bent differently than the arms for right handed sidecar rigs.... I have a left handed one from a rig that I converted years ago... (I would never do that again...much work) Yes it is the end of the axle and not a cap...the axle presses in from that direction...

I read your comments and I think you are spot on... I too have a bike that talks to me.... it's funny....it's not a BMW.. and I have lots of BMW bikes in my shop... it's a 1989 Honda Transalp.. I am not a fan of Honda but this bike talks to me..it likes me and never ever fails me...it is amazing.......
