Generator replaced by PowerDynamo:

The problem is that I have a new electronic regulator fitted, and it is a 6 volt unit, of course. It does not matter to me if the bike will be a 12 volt machine or a 6 volt, as long as every thing runs ok. The ignition is out of the question because it was overhauled already and it is ok, but the g...

Show your crash bars…

Thank you Allan. That is good advice. I never thought about it that way.
I dropped the bars idea.
Cheers, Michael.

Petrol evaporates because of carb heat?

Hi Peter, What do you mean by "coil"? The magneto received a rewound, and the condenser is new, also. I do not have these problems in cold weather, only when hot. The bike is a first kick starter at the morning, and so at the evening (I mean when the engine is cold). The problems appear when I some...

Engine oil smells like petrol

Thanks for the help, guys. Well, I'm starting to suspect the carbs, as they are old and maybe not gas tight. I've changed oil now, and hope to exchange to new carbs the moment I can afford it. I think that after closing the tap, the fuel that still is inside the rubber hose is getting through the f...

Lube up grade for R5 transmission

Can you put on a drawing from a technical sheet, maybe? Mark with an arrow the part? I just can not understand what you mean  .

Engine oil in the gearbox…?

Thanks guys.
By the way, the engine with that plate is a spare one and not that fitted on my machine. I mean the one with the France workshop plate. I will check those seals.
Thanks again, Micha.

Strange bolt beneath the gearbox;

Thanks, I will be glad to watch those pics (michasteinmann@gmail.com). It is possible that this part is remains from the dinosaur's time  , just like the right hand lever of the gear change mechanism, and has no function today. Interesting is, why does BMW not cancel those from-the-past parts...

Mystery solved

Darryl was the closest one: Mark Huggett explained to me that this part has 2 functions: Internal – holding spring and pin for kick starter ratchet, and on the outside there are bikes that the return spring of the foot brake lever is hooked on to it.
Always good to ask.
