Re: Pinstriping next

John, please describe the / 5 painting process. Is it base color painted on tanks and fenders without clear coat, next pinstriping also without ...

OEM cable ties

Seeking advice how to install the oem BMW cable ties. This type of tie has the plastic strap with fittings to puncture the strap.
What method should be used to enable the plastic pin to puncture tie without deforming said pin?

TIA
Peter

Re: 1983 R100 clutch cable

Late reply on this. BMW changed cable suppliers in the early 2000s. The new vendor introduced the hexagonal die. This has been written in other forums in the past, some of those were slightly oversized or had a burr and did not rotate freely in the “barrel”. That binding caused premature breakage o...

Re: Fluids

Is it true new trans fluid will most likely raise issues prior held together with old fluid and should have been left alone? I know it sounds silly but you hear that a lot. Coincidental at best, your transmission will benefit from the fluid change. The filings and sludge on the drain plug are not t...

Re: speedo rebuiild

I had my R 75/5 speedometer restored at Joe's Speedometer location Reseda Ca 818-468-4414. The speedo required the replacement of both needles. Out the door price including return express shipping to Pa. $475. No affiliation just a satisfied customer.

St.

Both my '71 R 75/5 (my current ride), and my 72 (which I bought new) have fuses behind the headlight. I'm sure a 73 would have them as well.

Wow Craig!
Not to get off topic but very cool that you not only purchased your 72 new but it is in your possession.
