Thanks, my memory was betraying me, I thought they locked into the plug for some reason

What I would worry about is the spigot on the slinger, these usually “lock” into the inner diameter of the plug effectively giving it a snug place for it to sit. Otherwise you rely on only the 2 slinger screws to hold it.

Check with Brent Hanson, or vintage Beemer parts or Scotty’s’ or Max, anybody that rebuild cranks, they MIGHT have some sitting around

1967 R50/2….. here is a pic of the #. It is a single roller bearing.

All I know is, whatever bearing…. They all seem to spin the crank race / wear it out

I have experienced the same, sloppy piston clearance, and wide ring gaps and bad valve sealing will contribute to this. How many times are you kicking it for the compression test? You have to kick it over 5-6 times to reach max reading, the first kick is always a good indicator, but will. It give total reading.
