Re: R69S crankpin plug

What I would worry about is the spigot on the slinger, these usually “lock” into the inner diameter of the plug effectively giving it a snug place for it to sit. Otherwise you rely on only the 2 slinger screws to hold it.

1951 R51/3

Wanted to share a couple pictures of my early production 1951 R51/3 #522701,the 700th one built. It has all the cool one year only touches, the early front engine cover/square section rear brake lever/single arm-leading edge front brake/Mann air filter/corner drain oil pan/R51/2 -#39-#40 carbs..........

Re: R69S crankpin plug

That is unusual,is that a new crank,or rebuilt? Odd they would send it that way, with no plug. It looks great! For main bearings I perouse ebay for NOS bearings from Germany/Britain/Italy,etc. it's anecdotal, but I just have more faith in older manufacturing quality....vs. all the new "Korea&quo...

Re: Sparkplug issue

I have experienced the same, sloppy piston clearance, and wide ring gaps and bad valve sealing will contribute to this. Buy the next size up piston rings, they have slightly more tension, and you can effectively gap them correctly. The correct size rings sometimes come out if the box with the gap to...
