Re: Sporadic miss cold and hot

Thx guys I feared it would be a brute force "check everything" scenario but was hoping for a telltale sign I wasn't aware of. I'll start with cheap and easy and go down the line. Systematic isolation of variables. Experience says it'll be something dumb. I'll report back when discovered.

Re: Brain replacement (ignition board) with rocky point kit

well, I got some tips from another airhead that does this routinely for people. I installed a dual pole relay in the bucket that keeps the brown/black wire to the coil/magneto "open" when the switch is on and grounds the magneto when i turn the key to off. Works like a champ and didn't hav...

Re: Installing new wiring harness

I have a few from when i did this on my R50/2 with a new harness. A couple key shots below. Ignore the r100 rotor and 12v system under the tank but the under tank photo is one of the best guides besides the cartoon images already posted. I have more as well as tons of photos from the Spartnburg, SC ...

Any tips or pictures of where you installed the switch and/or relay to ground the magneto?

Re: Brain replacement (ignition board)

I'm going to try troubleshooting y rebuilding the sloppy key switch guts While I'm in there I found that I have a voltage drop. When key is in and lights off: Between 30/51 and 56 I get 12.6v When key turns to lights on voltage drops to 11.88v This is with no headlight installed. It's on the bench.
