R75/5 1970 Front wheel assembly grinding on right turn.

In this figure #9 or #10 is not there, however it is not in my manual. Also that part is not for sale on this site it seems. Yup, I saw the same thing. I take this to mean that that model and year didn't need those parts. When you say left side, is that driver's left? The axle on my /7 comes in from...

What do you use to make your engine bright (Air head)

Thanks for the advice, the hydro cloric did leave a gray residue. I am going to try a few other things then I will report back what worked best.

Yeah I have been looking for something like those brass bottle brushs, and none of the hardware stores arround here have anything servicable. I'll keep looking, though I did buy some muratic acid, I will try it on a little underside patch and report the effectiveness :P

Front suspension 1970 R75/5 - its choppy over bumps

Well the problem was manifold. First the bumpers and rubber rings were bad. I serviced the forks and it greatly improved but there was still a problem. It turned out that there was play in the steering head, once that was repacked, adjusted and tighted the performance is very good. I still may chang...

I read somewhere that Muratic acid(hydro cloric acid) worked well to remove the oxidation, however I am a little leary to do this with out some confirmation.

The engine is very clean, its just the oxidation that I am looking to get rid of. Especially on the head fins where I can't really scrub.

Front suspension 1970 R75/5 - its choppy over bumps

I live in Napa, Valley. Evidently the closed airhead expert is in Santa Rosa, Michael I believe. It's not unridable, it just feels so odd, I have never felt a fork like this, granted I don't really know what this bike should feel like, but this certainly can't be it. Thanks for your input schrader, ...

Front suspension 1970 R75/5 - its choppy over bumps

I was like a deer caught in the headlights - The "Hole"/Missing spring was the actual fill valve that holds down the spring, one side came up with the cap. The springs are with in specs, and I changed the fork oil(measured and everything. But the slap is still there. The sliders are in perfect shape...

1970 R75/5 Clutch problem?

Finally got the job done, the friction disk was burnt black and the compartment covered in "soot", the disk was worn to the rivets. All in all this was a very simple job, as a super novice mechanic I found it rather simple and straight forward. Certainly not something I would pay someone $800+ to do...

Thanks a bunch, I think I can do it, as soon as my manual gets here, and the tips on parts that I should replace is most appreciated.
