Re: R69S crankpin plug

Thanks for the info Vech. I just put the rear bearing on the crank and am preparing the oven for the case heating, and when I saw you had posted, I thought, I hope I don't have to pull the bearing and slinger off the back...good news!!

Re: R69S crankpin plug

My spigots sit, with interference fit, in the inner diameter of the pins, not the plugs which are inboard about 1/8". I now have both a rebuilt and new r69s cranks and neither have the plug, even though the crank I sent out had one. It appears that replacement pins do not come with plugs. I not...

Re: R69S crankpin plug

I've received more info on this, and apparently not all /2 cranks came with these plugs. I was also informed that adding the plugs to a non-plug crank would require rebalancing. I'm now more comfortable using this crank as it is, and will start assembly asap. Of course, I'll probably get a dissentin...

Re: Alternative rear crank bearing

I agree that the radial misalignment that crank flexing introduces might be kept in check by these bearing, but at the expense of having the rollers momentarily on edge when the flexing occurs. This roller misalignment, could induce brinneling if extreme, leading to early failure. Perhaps these bear...

Re: Alternative rear crank bearing

The correct bearing code is NJ207E. Interesting is that they can limit axial movement in one direction but is open in the other(up to some max, maybe .020", just a wild guess).

Re: R69S crankpin plug

Brand new, a small batch of R69S cranks was just produced.. German mfg from ULIS. I've sourced FAG bearings, rear carrier etc etc. Reassembly is only awaiting the answer to this question. Apparently none of the new cranks coming out of ULIS have the plug. I've checked with all the usual suspects and...
