The bike smokes a bit after sitting a week or so, but only on start up. No real smoke after first minute or so. A compression/leakdown test is on my list of thing to do.

And if you haven’t done so yet, disconnect the battery BEFORE removing the front engine cover. Apparently the top of the cover can touch the diode board and short it out if the battery is connected.

If you measured the amount you put in, you don't need to check it with a rod. Oil level has nothing to do with spring tension or ride height just spring rebound dampening. I did not disassemble the fork. I loosened the bottom nut but did it take it all the way off. The oil drained out slowly.

Changed the fork oil. Only had 4 oz in each fork. Refilled with the proper amount and still have about 3-4 inches of play when the bike is on the center stand.
