I've not seen and Airhead cover plate with a single tapped port and ribs, just a guess here, but maybe an aftermarket for a remote gauge, pressure switch, maybe for testing?

Recognize the BMW's, almost think there's a Hoffmann but I think I'd be wrong, also hoping for a Douglas Dragonfly but not there either. Great line up though.

Your Bing carbs should have a number on them, something like 94/40/***. The middle number is the MM. Steve is correct that they may be 38 or 32. I do think they were 94/40's from the factory, the number on the carb will tell you.

I would agree on checking the frame stamp with VIN tag. I looked hard at the engine number picture and the 2 8"s are not the same stamp but they are cut in at the top the same. Then again, I've never seen on any BMW (vintage) bike or list of a 7 digit engine or VIN from BMW that started higher ...

I too have struggled finding Avon tires for my bikes the last several times I needed them. I did read where Cooper, who owns Avon, is closing the last factory open in the UK in Melksham by the end of 2023. They did not announce where the future motorcycles would be made, maybe they are just keeping ...
