Re: Pinstriping next

I recall a few years back contacting BMW in Munich about thickness and distance etc of pinstriping for my /5. They replied: it depended on whether Helga or Sonja painted the stripes. They're is always some minor variation. They then gave me the thickness, orientation and distance the stripes should ...

Re: carb sync tool

Carbtune Pro. Easy to use and comes with a handy pouch to store. About $100 US. Handles up to four carbs.

Re: Screws for the Badges

Yet both Meyers and Motorworks sells slotted screws for the tank emblem. All of my /5s have, and came with, slotted.

I believe so. That number supersedes 32712072189 which is what I recently purchased from Meyers. No mention of brand on their site though.

Re: Who is your go-to parts supplier?

Hey Colin, I have good luck with Ulis until I don't. Their catalog is a collection of both good and bad quality parts. When I have received inferior parts, they have never stood behind them and mostly don't even respond to emails to the affect. Their shipping rates and speed is pretty good especial...

Re: R26 Schorsch Meier seat placement

All done. I used a 6" turn buckle that opened to over 7" and wrapped both ends of the turn buckle with rubber (held in place with zip ties) to protect the inside of the tower. The shock towers were spread just enough to squeeze the seat bracket in. Worked like a charm. Thanks again Vech. Ke...

Re: R26 Schorsch Meier seat placement

A side note on the bench seat .. I just switched to a bench on my '55 R50 ahead of a ride to the Airheads rally in Death Valley a week ago. Taint as purty to my eye, and I originally intended to switch back after the trip, but won't now. My bike went from being uncomfortable for me after 100 miles ...

Re: R26 Schorsch Meier seat placement

Thanks to both of you. I'll let you know what I decide and how it turns out. Not scratching the paint is important but originality is too. Thanks again.

P.S. My avatar is a painting of the R26 as purchased about 15 yrs ago. My daughter is the artist.

R26 Schorsch Meier seat placement

Hello all. I'm refitting the bench seat onto my '57 R26. Up to now I've been using a Pagusa saddle but would like to put the bench seat back on. Currently there is a rubber gasket between the fender and shock tower bracket. It's quite thin but does keep the fender and tower from rubbing. Does anyone...

Re: R 75/5 Drum front brake.

The front brake on my R 75/5 locked up and threw me to the ground. There was very little damage to the bike as I was only doing about 20mph, but I ended up in the hospital with a broken hip. That was a month ago and I am still a month or more from recovery. This is the third time (going back to 197...
