Re: new exhaust pipes

Thanks for the tips, ST. Wasn't looking at the MAC anyway. Looked at EME but pretty pricey...yeah, I know...you get what you pay for....and all the stuff we've gotten from EME has been great so far, so we may "bite the bullet" and go with them.
Thanks again. Russ and Tom

new exhaust pipes

The darn exhaust pipes on my 1973 R75/5 have finally rusted out. Header is OK, but mufflers died when removing them...they fell to pieces at the header/muffler joint. Anyhow, any ideas/recommendations from you all about replacements? Probably can't afford SS or Staintune....any other good quality na...

Re: Help! Front Brake 1980 R100RT

WOW! I knew I could count on you guys! Thanks to srankin and schrader7032 for replies and links to the info. needed. We'll just have to "spin one up" out of some stainless stock, I guess. But we now have the correct dimensions, so lucky us! We'll get this bike on the road despite having pa...

Help! Front Brake 1980 R100RT

Me and my pal Russ have been working on his long-neglected RT, especially getting the brakes to work. We've had good luck with the project thanks to help/advice from members directing us to Brook Reams Airhead Garage, MAX BMW for parts fiche numbers, and Euro Moto-Electrics for rebuild kits for the ...

Re: 1980 R100RT Brake rebuild questions

Brook Reams Airhead Garage is THE PLACE for great info. on airheads! Me and Russ went ahead and pounded out{!) the pistonon the rear mcyl with a 3/32 drill bit as a drift. I still can't believe that there isn't a circlip holding the piston inside... seems like a real screwy setup. How do we know how...

Re: 1980 R100RT Brake rebuild questions

Thanks to both repliers with excellent information. Bremoit...you are the guy I'd hoped I would find here. So it's a crush washer that holds the piston in there...that explains it. I'll check out the Brook Reams video, too. Also, thanks for the very valuable info. on piston size in the mcyl., as I'd...

1980 R100RT Brake rebuild questions

Hello all...newbie here with my first BMW. Got a 1980 R100RT with about 60,000 mi with a buddy we're trying to get the bike running again after sitting since 2006. Biggest problem is the brakes...fluid gone from both reservoirs and master cylinders. Lines clear and OK, caliper pistons not stuck, pad...
