Re: R100 transmission fluid level

Yes, you fill it to overflow at the side fill bolt. LOL, kind of hard to get more in than to that level. How many miles are you going to be riding on your travels? Gear oil is not like engine oil which needs changed every two thousand miles. I only change gear oils every 30 or 40 thousand miles. St...

R100 transmission fluid level

I am traveling, and don’t have the owners manual with me. Can someone tell me the correct quantity of gear oil for my 1983 R100? Should it be filled to the top of fill bolt?

IIRC, GL5 80/90 weight.

Thanks.

Re: 1983 R100 clutch cable

One additional question…. I have a new cable, #32732324958. It is a Low bar cable.
Can you confirm from these pics, if my R100 has the low bars? These have a slight, 1.5” upward bend.

Pics…

Re: 1983 R100 clutch cable

Kurt, Chris, Pete,

Thanks, I plan to do it this weekend.
Especially like the the pics with red arrows. Like they say, one picture is worth…

Btw, white lithium is the grease that I usually lubricate the pivot points, like the barrel, etc.

Re: 1983 R100 clutch cable

Thanks Chris.
So are you suggesting that I don’t need to file off the “edges”, to round out the hexagon?

1983 R100 clutch cable

Not sure how old my current clutch cable is, so I am going to replace it. My new BMW cable, has a hexagon shaped brass part, that is on the perch end. The old cable, has a round brass piece, at the perch end. So, will this hexagon shaped end, be compatible on my cable perch? Or, do I have the incorr...
