Snowbum has a lengthy discussion of troubleshooting the alternator:

Re: /5 front brake lever assembly

Do you mean #10 in this diagram?

According to the listing, this particular lever was used on all /5 and /6 bikes.

Re: What's the bike?

The gas cap is a lot like the one on my /7. The tank of course is not, but could be a special tank like for police or something.

Re: Headlight questions ( R50/2)

Tommy is right as usual! I look closer at my diagram and I see that power from 56 first goes through the speedometer light then to ground. See...I can't understand these things!!

I'm looking at Ver 2.0 of the Rinckes booklet.

Use some kind of gas-friendly Loctite to hold it in place?

Re: Headlight questions ( R50/2)

I did click on the image, but it's not like anything I've seen before. So I consulted something I'm more familiar with. The Knowledge Base Library has a number of owners manuals for the /2 series. My diagrams show a very specific ground point connected to terminal 56 in the headlight. I don't see th...

Re: Headlight questions ( R50/2)

I can't make out the image very well, but I think terminal 56 on the main headlight board should be ground. Confirm that with your meter. Then follow that wire to your headlight switch. From the diagram I'm looking at, there should be a terminal 56 on the switch so that's ground. That seems to make ...

Re: Oil pan question

Barely an inch??? It's installed...not easy to get down there. Here's a side picture I took when doing my bottom end. You can see how much of the pan sticks out past the engine case...not much.

Welcome! Definitely not the stock oil pan. Here's a picture of my stock pan...I was experimenting with magnet placement.

Re: Tach for ‘62 R69S #656872 ?

On Duane Ausherman's site he says there are three versions of the fork cross brace. In '55, the cross section was round. In '63 with the addition of the harmonic balancer, they flattened the brace to clear the small bump in the engine cover. In about '66-67, they flattened the brace again and it is ...
