Transmission Rebuild shop

Looking for a GOOD transmission rebuilder for a 78 R100s 5 speed transmission in Virginia. I am in Suffolk which is the southeastern part of the state. I will travel to a reputable shop . The shop does not have to be 5 minutes away nor exclusive to Virginia. I am 20 minutes from the North Carolina l...

Switches on handlebar/ lights/directionals/ignition

1978 R100s looking to replace or rebuild the switches on the handlebars for right and left side. Is there someone or a reliable vendor that does this? Any and all responses greatly appreciated.

78 R100s directional signals blowing fuse

Every time I use the directional signal it blows the fuse.  I have replaced the wiring for the tail light and directionals as well as replaced the bulb sockets all the way around.  Still blowing the fuse.  I have ordered a replacement relay for the directional signals and hopefully this will correct...

Re: Clutch Pushrod issue

I realize that the flywheel is not part of the clutch but if you have the trans out and it's right there it is only logical to remove it, resurface it, and reinstall it along with all the seals and "O" rings etc. That's what I do whenever I replace a clutch for a manual trans. It's the rem...

Re: Clutch Pushrod issue

First, thanks to all who took the time to respond. In response to some of the questions, the release shaft does move when activated by the hand lever. Therefore, and as a result of the recommendations provided, the trans will come out. The flywheel will come off and be resurfaced and replaced along ...

Clutch Pushrod issue

1978 R100s, shifting is non existent! Activate the clutch release lever nothing happens, trans stays in neutral. Yes I can put it in gear yet the clutch is engaged, not a good thing. Clutch cable and release lever move when handlebar lever activated. Therefore I am under the impression the clutch re...

Re: Importing a bike to California

I moved from Southern California to Virginia a year ago. I have a 1978 R100s. During the time I rode the bike in CA it was registered in CA and had no issues with the smog BS. Is your bike similar to those sold in Southern California ? Most likely yes, meaning similar/identical models of your motorc...

Bad experience with repair shop in SoCal.

This past year( July 2021 to July 2022) has been monopolized by a move from Ventura County Southern California to Virginia. I have a 1978 R100s (75,501 miles ). It was running well but I wanted to have the bike gone over by an expert. A Kat named Tom was highly recommended so I took the bike to him ...

Tires!

78 R100s I have Metzlers font& rear 3.25-19 in front and 4.00-18 in rear. These were on the bike when I got it. Not very excited about the tread pattern given the block tread is dicey on grooved roads, metal grate bridges etc. I-have had good experience with Continental Tires and would like to k...
