Complete bolt kit

Hi,

I'm looking for a complete bolt kit for my 1959 R69 and I'm only able to find stainless steel ones. I recall something about it originally being cad plated bolts - is that correct? And if so, are they available somewhere? :)

Vapor blast wheel hub?

Hi all,

I'm in the proces of doing a full restoration of my 1959 R69 and am piling up the parts that is going to be vapor blasted.

Should I give the wheel hub a vapor blast as well? What's the usual procedure?

Correct speedo for '59 R69

Hi there,

At the moment I have a a VDO 200 km/h speedometer installed but did a 1959 R69 come with a 160 km/h speedo as shown via the link from S.Meyer?

Re: R69 ignition retard lever / correct magneto

Hi Starklint- The magneto unit on the R69 is unique to the R68 and R69 only, while all the other models (R50-R69S) share a standard magneto that has no manual advance mechanism. This is the one I have installed at the moment. Guess mine is the standard magneto with no advance mechanism? https://i.i...

Re: R69 ignition retard lever / correct magneto

I saw this at S.Meyer and the mag seems different than the one I have installed.

R69 ignition retard lever / correct magneto

Hi all, I just bought the correct ignition retard lever handle for my R69 and I was wondering if my current "standard" magneto is the right one? And how do I install the ignition retard lever on the mag? I find it hard to find any visual illustration of this. Should I just stick to "v...

Re: Correct carbs for 1959 R69

Thanks for all your answers. Guess 9/10 carbs is "correct" - also for a 1959 R69 :) Got this answer from BMW: Dear Mr Starklint, Thank you for your email. The datasheet we sent together with the certificate was more a generic one and based on the entries in our own database. For carburetto...

Re: Correct carbs for 1959 R69

I think that the 9/10 combination was the original carb set for the R69. I have an all original R69 in my garage which was build in the last months of the production line, and she has the 9/10 carb set. My R69 was manufactured on July 24th, 1959. Do you know the date for yours? Not to be a rivet co...

Tim's probably right.
So, from your perspective my 1959 R69 would have had 1/26/85-86 carbs from the factory? Guess I should cancel my order on the 1/26/91-92 carbs, then :D

Correct carbs for 1959 R69

Hi there, I currently have R69S 1/26/91-92 carbs on my 1959 R69, but have just purchased a set of R68/R69 1/26/9-10 carbs. My Classic certificate from BMW states that it came from the factory with 1/26/9-10 carbs, but Tim Stafford states in his recent 1/26/10 Bing Carb eBay listing that it was only ...
