Sorry for the delay. It took me a while to get a new cable. I am at least the 3rd owner. And I’ve have had the bike for 5 years. Had it serviced a few times pretty thoroughly before long trips. Hi everyone. I hopped on my 78 r80/7 today and my clutch lever is pulling a third of the way before my clutch starts to disengage. In other words there’s play for the first 1/3. Yes Schroeder, you’re right, I should have just taken my time and gone through the process properly. I replaced the clutch cable and adjusted it exactly according to rubber chicken and now it’s great. I’m impatient and usually conclude the worst case scenario. Hi srankin I basically just coped with riding the bike this way. I have to shift up before I shift down. It’s a pain but I don’t know what else to do. The peg seems to be at the right height.
