Won't be cheap no matter how you go about making very small scale replicas. Modern 3-D scanning and CNC machining from solid using the resulting CAD model is probably the easiest and cheapest these days. In 1970 I rode solo from Cologne to Vienna on my R26 (1000km) and after a short holiday back again with my girlfriend on the back. I think the shown Zündapp 601 used chain gearbox (4 sets of duplex chain) instead of gears. Apparently more efficient and quieter - though my listening to them back in the day didn't substantiate that...

Apart from the home made or adapted front cover, this is quite an elegant solution! If you intend riding the bike for a long time, I would NOT go back to the R26 6V system. It was never adequate for night riding. If you consider fitting a 55W halogen headlight globe for safe night riding, forget all...
