Goro and James, I agree that the removal of a BMW R51/2 generator from an installed engine risks loosing hold of the timing chain which is a virtual guarantee that one or both camshafts will no longer be correctly timed if the generator is reinstalled blindly without direct visualization of the timi...

Install the rear main bearing oil baffle (p/n 11 21 0 016 252) against the rear main bearing with the concave surface of the baffle facing away from the bearing.

Install the seal with the spring side toward the bearing.
