Re: R26 Rocky Point switch clearance problem

Thanks for checking. I am afraid to modify the reflector as the surface is not in really great shape. Will probably get the H-4 conversion even though I do not plan to do any night riding on this old/slow bike. Did you get yours from Mike Benoit? My switch is the same as the Rocky Point one and I go...

Re: R26 Rocky Point switch clearance problem

Using the stock headlight and reflector. Willing to try the H-4 type if it will work with 6 volts.

R26 Rocky Point switch clearance problem

Because of broken tabs for the original ignition switch, I installed a switch like the Rocky Point upgrade. The switch is too deep in the bucket and will not allow the headlight reflector to be installed. In the instructions for the upgrade, it mentions this possible problem but offers no options. D...

Re: R26 lubrication

I understand that the oil flows through channels in the head and to the rocker supports. I ran a pipe cleaner through the channels to be sure they were clear. The channels are clear, but do not line up with the opening in the support (as seen in the pictures in Barrington). I need to get the support...

Re: R26 lubrication

Kurt, Thanks for the response. I found the article in my Barrington for singles on pg. 128. Top right picture shows the rocker support with oil feed holes. My problem is that the feed holes do not line up with the holes in the head that should feed oil to them. Whoever put the supports in the head d...

R26 lubrication

Checking oil flow to rockers on my project. Can run a pipe cleaner through intake side but not the exhaust side. Looking in it looks as if the rocker standoff has a hole that is not lined up toward the hole in the head. How can I turn the standoff so the hole lines up? This head came with the projec...

Re: R26 Spoke install problem

Want to thank everyone for the responses and will tell you what I found. Spokes are correct size for the aluminum rims. I also posted the problem on Facebook R26 discussion site as well as here. Steffen Gormer spotted the problem within 1 hour. Ados Vergison also helped. They said that the spoke pla...

R26 Spoke install problem

Working on a R26 basket case project. I cut the old spokes and cleaned the hub, rims, etc. Bearing preload set correctly and installed. Got new spokes from Michael Benoit at Vintage BMW parts. Installed the first side spokes as per the Barrington "Bible" with no problems. Installed the out...

Re: Kick start seal

Metoo,
I have the same leak and am anxious to hear how you proceeded with the repair and your success. I do not understand what was mentioned previously about the drywall screws and how they would work.

Re: Sidestand?

Gurus,
Now that we have identified the sidestand as a Farley, does anyone know of a source of the spring for it? I have tried my usually helpful hardware sources and found ones too weak and too strong, but not one that will work.
Anyone know a good source?
Thanks,
Dave
