Re: 1961 R50S carbs

The bike has a 1/26 71 on the left and a 1/26 76 on the right (off of a R69S). I would love to locate a 1/26 72 for the right. A pair of 1/26 77-78 or 1/26 95-96 would be fine as well. The final drive 25/7 was likely a R50s only. Vech is there a difference in the 1/26 71-72, 77-78 and 95-96 used on ...

Re: 1961 R50S carbs

Thanks Kurt, I have cabs that 'work' but looking for specific original carbs and final drive (2-3 yr) if possible.

1961 R50S carbs

I'm looking for a right R50S carb, but would be interested in a pair for a new project. (1/26/71-72) I know they are hard to find but I believe they are out there. I am also looking for a 25/7 final drive for the same bike. Can anyone help or provide guidance to where I might look?

Re: R26 cruising speed

I was considering taking one on the nest Chase. Roughly 2500 miles over 10 days. Need to average 40-45 mph to be reasonably competitive, I'm 150 plus 30 pounds of gear. Did very well on my R51/3 last year.

R26 cruising speed

To all the R26 owners and riders. What would you say is the comfortable cruising speed of a R26 without sidecar geering and 2 up?

Re: Gasoline additives

A big thank you to everyone. I will run real gas when I can and avoid adding anything to the fuel.

Gasoline additives

I have a 1953 R51/3 and will be leaving soon on a cross country ride on Route 66. We will average 250 miles a day for 10 days. I have heard varying opinions on whether or not to use a gas additive such as a small amount of 2 cycle oil to a tankful of gas to help lubricate the top end. Any thoughts o...

1953 R51/3 transmission squeak

Recently I have noted a squeak in or at the back of the transmission when I pull in the clutch lever with the motor not running. When the machine is started it is quiet until the clutch is pulled and then there is a squeaking roughly matching engine speed at idle in roughly the same location. Everyt...

Side stands for R51/3

I have a 1953 R51/3 and have added bags for and up coming endurance race. The center stand is pretty narrow and unsteady on uneven or slightly slanted surfaces. Using the center stand with the bike loaded is also much more difficult. I have a self retracting side stand but it still requires constant...
