Re: Just Shaping a Milestone

Man, I feel your pain. In June 2000 I was hit from the rear, on my way to work, in heavy expressway traffic in Worcester,MA. The bike and I parted as we were launched into the air and I broke my hip when I hit the ground. No weight bearing for 10 weeks and still have bolts in my femoral stalk. As so...

Re: Which oils do you use

Castrol GTX 20W-50, which many of us have been using for years, now says Classic High Zinc Content on the label. If this is a change in formulation or just labeling I do not know.

Re: R60/2 best place to source a centrifugal advance unit

You may find this thread helpful, especially James' advance rebuild video. I bought my new advance from Mike B. Everything is right on now but I don't put on the mileage now that I would have years ago.

Re: R26 Rocky Point switch clearance problem

Hi Dave, I just noticed that you said your switch is 'like' the Rocky Point switch. Mine is a Rocky Point switch; if your switch is different I don't know if this will be helpful, but I hope it is. Picture one shows the switch installed. It's retained by a hose clamp which makes for easy in and out....

Re: R26 Rocky Point switch clearance problem

My R 60/2 used to be fitted with the 6 volt H-4 conversion and had no problem with the Rocky Point switch, but it was tight. Then I bought an LED bulb with heat sync. That required the standard socket which required the standard reflector and lens. That did interfere with the switch. Tomorrow Ill go...

Re: R26 Rocky Point switch clearance problem

What do you have for a headlight, the H-4 with the flat lens or the stock lamp with with the convex lens? They use different reflectors.

Re: R 75/5 Drum front brake.

Craig, ATE disk brakes are plug-and-play on a /5 after you collect the parts. You'll need a /6 tank if you want an under tank master cylinder or use a handle bar master cylinder. In my experience, the ATE brakes are somewhat better than a well setup /5 drum, but not much. But, I've never experienced...

Re: Heel toe shifter for 1968 R60/2

How's it going, are you making progress? I came across this Ural accessory yesterday and thought of you. I have no idea if it could be adapted to a BMW, but its another way to go. https://www.uralne.com/hand-shifter-for ... d-reverse/
