Re: Pinstriping next

Some of the great things about the fit and finish of BMW motorcycles used to be the hand work involved, pinstripe or R90S paint jobs. What ever, it was far classier than the OM stuff. St.

Re: Pinstriping next

I had both my RS and RT repainted the RT twice the RS once. Both times the pinstripe was clear coated over. No it doesn't give the 3D effect you get when done on top but, The second paint job on the RT, the stripes lasted close to 35 years, 190K miles of rough riding. Not to be a jerk, but I don't r...

Re: /7 fuel tank

Personally, I have not ordered one of the Indian tanks, my friend at the airhead shop did two. Sadly, he had issues of fitment with both tanks. One tank was for a master cylinder under the gas tank bike, in this case a /6. The tank when mounted rubbed on the master cylinder, there was no clearance. ...

Re: Steam cleaning engine block?

Oh you are correct, there are is a large number of techniques out there BMW owners have used over the years to keep their engines, transmissions and other aluminum parts clean or to restore. I have used several chemicals and bead blasting over the years but never steam. I would imagine it will do th...

Re: Motometer Clock: Is this the right one for my 1975 R90S?

Oh boy, I haven't looked at a clock for a R90S in years. LOL, for that matter the back of my current clock on my RT or RS, but I am almost certain they have a ground terminal? I don't see one in this clock.

I guess the only way to check it out is to try it maybe? Good luck, St.

Re: R100 transmission fluid level

Congratulations on a successful on trip repair. It is good you didn't have to resort to U Haul to get home. LOL, I wish I could do trips of that length these days. Mine are just loop runs anymore. St.

Re: R100 transmission fluid level

Yes, you fill it to overflow at the side fill bolt. LOL, kind of hard to get more in than to that level. How many miles are you going to be riding on your travels? Gear oil is not like engine oil which needs changed every two thousand miles. I only change gear oils every 30 or 40 thousand miles. St.

A big high five for the troubleshooting on both the charging and running. Boogers in gas happen from time to time. The good part about them is if you ride more they occur less, LOL. St.

Re: Sudden loss of Power R65. No GEN Light

Just a thought about the rough running, maybe you need a new spark plug lead on the one side? How old/many miles on the leads you have? They do age and go bad. Also, not to be rude but I find most times when I have idle issues, it is time to adjust the valves. Not saying this is the case but, while ...
