Re: Transmission breather bolt on R60?

That's extremely useful advice, Vech. Much appreciated. I have the vented bolt on order from Motorworks over here, so we'll see what the deal is when it arrives and I swap it out with the unvented. My guess is the seals need replacing anyway, due to the migration of gear oil down the driveshaft, and...

Re: Transmission breather bolt on R60?

Thanks George and Bill...both great ideas. I'll have a look tomorrow and see if I can't make one of these solutions work!

Re: Transmission breather bolt on R60?

Thanks, Kurt, that's much appreciated! I'm having trouble finding the pre-1970 part in the UK, and not loving the idea of paying about $20 postage to have a bolt sent over from the US or EU. Jeez. Motorworks doesn't seem to have it, and isn't replying to queries... the hunt continues (as does the ge...

Re: Transmission breather bolt on R60?

Anyone know if the post-1970 R bike bolts fit the pre-1970 R bike bolts? Can't seem to find a UK-based supplier that has a pre-1970 one, although one place has a post-1970 one but isn't sure it would fit. Thanks for any help!

Re: Wiring Question R69 Hi/lo Beam/Horn switch

Just to wrap this up, as I just saw I hadn't, the issue was that the fuse rating was too low. With Amps x Volts = Watts, I was only going to be able to handle 30 watts total on that fuse, but with the lights running and the horn then pushed in, I passed that and blew the fuse. The more electrically-...

Re: Transmission breather bolt on R60?

Mine's definitely been a pusher. In the photo you can see the oil running out from the cable entry point and around the boot.

The seals will need replacing anyway, but in the meantime I'm off to Salis to find a holy bolt... Thank you all for the speedy replies and help!

Transmission breather bolt on R60?

Hello all, got a quick question: I recall that my past bikes, /5 and /7s, had a bolt by the speedo cable that vented the transmission. I may have this recollection wrong, but thought that it should be the same for my 1960 R60. That said, I've had some gear oil (yes, sulfur smell) leaks-- indeed pudd...

Re: Wiring Question R69 Hi/lo Beam/Horn switch

Alas, no joy in mudville... As soon as I pushed the horn button with the lights on, the fuse blew (5amp, on the battery)-- just how I remember the lights going out sometime ago. Also, I had no taillights, only the headlight, brake light, horn-- although the hi/lo switch worked. Something funky going...

Re: Wiring Question R69 Hi/lo Beam/Horn switch

As I was typing out my response to you guys, it occurred to me what might have happened. The power was clearly coming in to the board at 30/51 and not getting to 56. When I looked at the wiring diagram I couldn't work out how the power got there, but when I looked at the board closely, there's a coa...
