/2 air breather noise

Just had r 60/2 rebuilt I'm getting loud chirping noise out of breather tube at idle. When I put my finger over tube it stops.I just rebuilt it and put in new cam and timing gears also new breather. The mechanic said you can't use old breather with new gears.I read vechs explication on why noise is there .does anyone know if I can use old breather. Can I fix without taking motor out again thanks
