Muffler mounting R75/5

After 10 years I’m finally about to finish up the restoration of 1971 R75/5.
The right muffler fits fine with no issues but I’ve hit a snag with the left muffler attaching to frame.
The weld on the muffler bracket seems to be blocking the muffler from being able to align with the two threaded holes on the frame. Yet I don’t recall any problems disassembling that part.
Do I have the mufflers orientated correctly. I appreciate any suggestions.

The left muffler sure sits higher than the right. Why is that? Could that be the issue? And I'll ask my stupid question...are the mufflers sided...can they be switch left-right?

LOL, not so stupid a question. LOL, I will chime in with my half baked knowledge and say "yes" the mufflers are sided left and right.

Something is amiss as I agree with Kurt the left side is hanging a lot lower than it should. I hate to say it but I would pull the whole shooting match apart headers off the heads, and reassemble it. Or, at least inspect the header pipes and mounts to see if they are all lined up properly. Good luck. St.

Just a suggestion ..... loosen up the headers and cross-over and then gradually re-attach everything beginning at the rear. I had a similar issue with my R67. The exhaust system would not come together until I did as I suggested.

LOL, you are lucky you have just the one cross over pipe to mess with. The last time I had the pipes off my 84RT was a a joy aligning them. BMW decided to add an additional cross over behind the gear box. St.

Thanks to all for the input. I’ll loosen everything and start from the rear and work forward to see if that helps.

The mufflers have a slight bend either upward or downward depending on which side they are mounted on. I mounted with a downward bend. Is this correct? Link to photo above.
Thanks

The icloud doesn't seem to work. I checked my /7 and the bend is "inward". Seems they bend about where the final drive is so they run a bit more parallel to the bike. So not up or down.

LOL, I find it sometimes hard to write directions down, I would just rather do the job myself, LOL. FYI, the left muffler should allow the rear axle shaft to slide out under it. LOL, it makes changing a tire a bit easier on the side of the road, you won't have to remove the muffler. Also, I believe the bolted or welded brackets on the mufflers themselves allow installation in only one orientation. St.
