Success I think. I checked jiggled all the wires. The voltage now goes up to 14.5 and stops there AND the gen light goes out! Must have fixed itself…..thanks for the input. Now for a cold ride.
Nice sleuthing. I've seen this issue resulting from a bad connection. From my experience, things only fix themselves temporarily so, as others have said, be sure to check the connectors. Great work figuring it out!

Also, it wasn’t as simple as giggling the wires. I tightened down a few.
