You also have to consider the tire pressure does increase as the tire warms up on longer rides and on cold days the starting pressure will be less than what you had inflated them to originally. Another consideration would be your tire pressure gauge, I have four or five (digital and old school) and they all seem to wonder around the same pressure reading but never exactly the same.

One way of testing your tyre pressures is with a digital temp gauge.

The tyres should not be building up excessive heat above ambient temperature.

On my 4x4 when travelling I have tyre pressure sensors and I adjust the tyre pressures if the heat builds up.

I run 30/32 in my RoadRiders. Highest/lowest riding temps here in NorCal are 110F/45F.
