Plunger regulator for swingarm twin regulator?

Can I substitute a Noris regulator from R51/3-R68 for a Bosch regulator from R50-R69S? Can a shorted out Bosch regulator be repaired? Should I even try?

Buy yourself a replacement solid state voltage regulator. The originals are electo-mechnical and and physically wear out and change their regulation value as they do. FORGET attempting to fix it. Get it wrong, and have the generator overcharge, and it will get hot, melt, sling all the solder out of the armature and ruin it!
The new solid state ones do a MUCH BETTER job of current regulation.
12 32 8 002 312 is the part number, fit's directly in place of the original.

Listen to Vech! ANYBODY with a bad regulator,just switch it out and save your time! I tried messing around with filing contacts,bending contact arms,rebuidling regulator etc., it was a exercise in futility. I know it can be done, but save yourself the headache and get a good quality electronic regulator, install and adjust it and forget about it!
Here is the one I have in 2 of my bikes, there were only 2 left, I just bought one as a spare.....so somenbody get this last one until they re-stock!
