Bing 1/24 /134/135 brass tube inset ?

Hi, I have recently acquired a pair of Bing 1/24/134/135 carburettors and im wondering if this is correct for this model ...the idle air tube has a brass infill tube fitted to both carbs I've not seen this before on other types of Bing's, is this correct and why , or has someone tried to modify it to fit another model may be ? Your help as always would be most welcome .Picture included.
