Apparently it has a Boyer electronic ignition.
Does anyone have experience with those units?

It certainly looks darn good in the pictures.

Steering damper, yeah, they conk out after awhile, no big deal nice the previous owner installed a new unit but they don't get much use.

I don't have first hand knowledge of Boyer ignition, all I can say is they were one of the go to set ups back in the day to eliminate or reduce wear on points. I have never heard of one failing. Anything to get rid of points is a good thing in my opinion.

Looking at the mufflers, they look like stock and I have a set of SS on my bikes, they are no louder than stock.

Good luck, St.

Snowbum has a section near the bottom of this page on Boyer:

https://bmwmotorcycletech.info/Ignition.htm

He discusses some issues with the early models of the ignition...was updated at some point.

Thank you for that information. I guess that may explain why he is not using the period correct spark plug caps. Another piece of the puzzle.

Cheers

Well we inspected and rode the R75/6 today.

Runs well and only fairly minor blemishes.
The chrome lower brace is missing from the front guard - but has it got an R90s guard fitted????

Tool kit is missing a few bits.
no tyre pump.
Gear box was rebuilt about 10,000k's back
New clutch at the same time.

All in all a tidy example. We have not absolutely decided to purchase, but we will consider it.

A couple of close up pics.

What is the red button just forward of the handlebars?

The red button is for hazard lights. Seems to be a bit funny, not sure if that was an Australian requirement.

OK, I don't think the hazard system was standard for US. But it might be missing a "dash pad" where that button would go. It clips to the handlebars right in the middle and helps to hide and group all the cables together. There were popout panels in the pad. But that said, with the steering dampener knob there, the usual pad won't work. Maybe there's something else that is supposed to be there for that button.

I can't find a part number but look at the small picture in this image. If the BMW roundel is pushed out, then it will fit over the knob when then has to be screwed back in place.

As for the non stock spark plug leads, LOL, the stock ones may have needed replaced and the Previous owner didn't want to spend the Bite My Wallet price for new ones. That is not a problem as long as the proper resistance is figured into the new set up. I don't know how fussy Boyer systems are for proper lead resistance, I do know the stock BMW electronic ignition on newer bikes is fussy.

My dealer installed factory hazard lights on both of my bikes. On my RT, the switch was on one of the fairing frame bars for nearly 30 years, before I saw a Canadian bike with one mounted as yours is in the proper location. LOL, it is a lot easier to use now that I moved mine. My RS, doesn't have the cut out for the switch, it is mounted on a bracket next to the headlight shell. It looks to be a proper bracket, but I have never found it on a BMW microfiche. St.
