I can't help with someone in the Chicago area but if your on Facebook there are a couple really good BMW vintage groups that can. They usually respond within the hour.

The problem with going into these old engines is you never know what to expect. A simple slinger cleaning can easily turns into a full engine overhaul costing thousands of dollars.

Jeff certainly takes the win with that engine.

It was a slow week so I tackled the front and rear brakes. New pads, more cleaning and reassembled.

Its called a Rocket Trailer. It folds in half and stand on its end. I don't think they make them anymore but it sure has been a great motorcycle trailer.

Its the first time I have installed new pads so Im looking forward to the difference. Its one of the mx items I alway turned away from because I thought it would be difficult to do. Once you try it ... its simply and easy. All technique.

Good day in the shop today. The engine, transmission, carbs and wheels came back from vapor blasting. With a new set of SS spokes I was able to lace the two wheels up. All the other parts are out for paint and/or Powdercoating.

Thanks. The hubs were vapor blasted. The rims are brand new polished aluminum. I didn't go with the SS because Im not going to run a sidecar with this bike.
