Cut seat triangle plate at the front, about 1/2" and side fronts. heat the two rear side welds and C- clamp the plate upwards so it is a flat against the frame as possible, let cool. Tig weld the front to the frame right at the cut area. Tis weld the sides a little.
this will give you that 3/8" 1/2" for the air box to fit.
For blacknight: Yes, there's room for that /5 rubber air scoop in a /2 frame, but not when you mount the stock tank. I assume you either discovered this, or you're using a non-standard tank.

My question a while back was. How do you undo the frame modifications after someone did a conversion. I undid the gas tank mount, the seat mount and rebuilt the side stand bracket after I some how managed to find the original (numbers matching) engine block for the 505. The 505 is a confirmed original 1968 R 60US in Granada Red. Its on its final assembly stage of restoration and a first ride for the rescued very rare motorcycle.
