Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners

Hi everyone hope that the New Year brings us luck and good health, my question is .. on the Z type mechanical regulator the base has one rubber grommet for the mounting screw but the other side does not ! Should there be ? Why does one side have one and not the other , should the whole unit be isolated from its mountings position? Your input would be welcome as to this conundrum. Regards Andrew

one rubber grommet for the mounting screw top side to isolate upper base from being grounded
lower side is grounded
It appears the base is the same but if you look closely the lower part is isolated from the top mounting hole

Thanks Tommy , I see what you mean but what I don’t understand is why is the screw that holds the top down is isolated ! The whole plate is in one so the only part that will not be in contact is the screw , or am I missing something?
Probably me being a thick !

I don[t think they are isolating the screw. I think they are trying to minimize vibration using the rubber as a shock absorber. That's my guess.

Yes that’s what I thought , I can see no other reason for it otherwise, cos if they were trying to isolate the base plate both holes would be in rubber . Thank you all .

Should have gone to garage to check
My memory is not as good as it used to be
Must be for some damping for the regulator but why not both ends
2 would be too much
