Long time bike guy (started riding when I was 14, am 72 now). Spent 12 years in the Navy as a Submarine Sonar Tech. Road-rage bikes for 11-12 years in the PacNorWet, loved sliding a bike around corners on a wet track!! Worked as support crew for off-road rally car for 4-5 years, enjoyed working on the cars but no way would I get in one! Anyway a few months ago I bought a one-owner '63 R75/5 with 100kmiles on it. Sweet bike, runs & rides well. Slowly replacing non-stock items and learning the bike.Image

Welcome to the forum! Long time rider indeed! Quite the history on bikes.

Nice survivor 1973 R75/5...it isn't a 1963 model. Yours appears to be what they call a Short Wheel Base bike...mid model year 1973, so maybe in the spring of 1973, they lengthened the swing arm by around 50mm. Duane Ausherman's page discusses the short and long wheel base differences:

Yes, a '73. Was built in Sept. of '72 so think it's a SWB model. Had a fork mounted fairing, side bags, & a King n Queen seat on it when purchased. Now have a correct seat and removed the fairing & bags. Looks much cleaner!
