Installing flywheel on R67 engine and am wondering about timing marks on rear portion of flywheel ring. This ring has a line on the edge with a T on one side and a Z on the other. Uncertain how to install this. Thanks, Michael

The R67 workshop manual I found in the Knowledge Base indicates that maximum spark advance is 36 deg BTDC and it would appear that the retarded location is 6 deg BTDC. Does your mark agree with any of those?

I'm not sure, as these are timing marks on the flywheel ring.

Well, "Z" has been used as the full-advance mark on BMW flywheels but mostly I've heard on Airheads after 1970. I was just saying that if the marks lined up with those numbers I provided, you might be a step closer to understand what you're looking at.

Yes, I agree and Thank You. After looking through the timing hole there is one spot where they line up fairly close so I'll go with that. This engine has a two piece flywheel. Michael
