Good ride, no problems

I had an excellent ride yesterday, the first real pleasure ride my R27 has had in 40 years.

That's it, just wanted to contribute something 100% positive! I value the resources we have for these old bikes, especially groups like this.

There's a thread on here from when I got the bike. It was neglected in a shed for decades, then functionality refreshed earlier this year. It was running OK but with compression issues. A second round of work took care of that, but there remained a bad bogging stutter when hot.

Finally cleared that up, and yesterday spent two hours on back roads and the bike didn't miss a beat. It is comfortable and handles really well, brakes good enough, and to me looks great.

I'm still pleasantly shocked at the terrific motorcycle it's becoming. All the time and money invested has been worth it. Here's to another 57 years.

Great patina
That's what I was about to say.
I don't remember ever seeing a small tank with the toolbox on the top. I thought it was only the large "sport" tank with that feature.

It's a little more neglect than patina, but the effect is the same. It's definitely got the look. I think the tank is standard R27 and similar or same as the /2s of the time.

The R27 does have a top lid for the toolbox and is smaller than a 6.5 gallon sport tank at 4.0 gallons

I'm not sure if I would even clean the aluminum.
I would only find brown rust and hide it.
As it is now it is a lot more interesting than a looks like new R27.
The pin striping held up really well, often the narrow line almost disappears. yours looks right for the age.
