Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners

This is my first exploration of the prewar era: I am trying to locate a Generator/Magneto for a R17.

Vech tells me that is a hopeless quest as they are extremely rare... but he advises that I search for a Bosch Generator/Mag for a R12 which will work and should be possible to find.

Does anybody have any advice for me on where I might try? Jan at Salis is looking for me and I've reached out to Magneto.de

Any advice would be gratefully received.

I used to be able to make eBay.com search world-wide. France was often a source of odd BMW and Brit bike parts i was searching for. But they seem to have made this impossible now and I only see items up for sale in the USA and sometimes Britain.

I'll make a practice of going directly to eBay.eu or ebay.de, eBay.UK when I'm searching and hopefully strike gold and find what I'm looking for.
