Hi guys.
Couple of questions on overhauling the carbs for a 60/2

1.How do you get rid of the hard residue on the carbs. Can you soak it in some solvent..

2. The overhaul gasket package Vech sent me has 6 gaskets, but I only count 4 in mine..not sure if I am missing something or have 2 extra gaskets

Likely the kit is a universal one. Bing's site has a kit for three different carb types and it has 12 pieces in it, 6 for each side:

As for cleaning, not sure what to use. The bowls are made from pot metal and are easily messed up if you get too aggressive. I'd use brake cleaner for sure. I wonder if a dilute mixture of simple green might help. I think I've seen people dunk carb parts in an ultrasonic cleaner. But you just have to be aware of the pot metal.

in lacquer thinner will soften the deposits. A small bristle brush will do the rest.
Compressed air at a high pressure will clean out the orifices, unless they are really plugged.

The rubber o-ring gets stretched and goes on the carb top.
